The traffic here looks ordinary, yet it feels like only crazy rich asians can afford driving around. The cost of car ownership is prohibitive and then there is the ERP, a kind of dynamic automatic congestion charge. On the other hand, public transport here is ridiculously good and provides some of the best service in the world. Buses are plentiful, inexpensive and punctual and always just around the corner. Taxis are reasonably priced too and are joined by Grab, the ubiquitous in SEA ride hailing service. Walking is easy and pleasant due to the impeccable sidewalks, the plethora of covered pedestrian overpasses and underpasses and the absence of obnoxiously parked cars. Last but not least, the fabulous subway system is squeaky clean and one of the best in the world.
